You can start your own business today without even having a product or service to sell. And you can do that using the power Video Content Marketing.
The principles I’m going to show you, are all about creating a community of ideal prospects for your business even before you have anything to sell them. You see, by using video content marketing to build and engage with your community, you will know exactly what products or services they need and want from you.
So many new entrepreneurs and business owners start with a product first such as a membership site, online training courses, done for you services, and kindle books and they end up failing. I know many people who end up not selling a single thing. Hey I’ve been there done that myself. And it can really get you down after putting in all that time and effort with zero results. And that’s because you created your product before you knew if anyone really wanted it.
So here’s a way to fool proof way to success by learning exactly what your prospects want and then tailor a solution for them.
With an ‘audience -first’ approach, you build an audience that creates momentum and starts growing itself and you start getting feedback on what products or services your audience actually wants to buy from you.
So the big question is, how to you build your community – you can do it, and do it effectively with video content marketing.
So let’s get started with this with the first part of a 3 part series with THE CONTENT.
Content is the essential core of your business. The good news is you decide what the content should be. You don’t have to get the content topic 100 percent right to start with because your content will evolve has you grow and engage with your audience. You’ll quickly learn what topics are popular and what’s not, so the most important thing is to actually start the process.
Ask yourself, what knowledge or skills do you have that other people may not? You don’t need to be an expert, you just need to know more than your audience. Obviously the more you know about your topic, the larger your potential audience will be.
Now if you are going to start a business focused on a specific topic, then you might as well choose something that you’re passionate about. Not only will you passion come through your video and capture the attention of your audience, you passion will help you through the long journey as you build your audience and your business.
As you are probably aware of there are literally billions of hours of video online today. So the question is, why should anyone watch your video content?
Well it makes sense that your content needs to be different from what else is in there in your particular niche. There are two options available to you.
First, you need to create better content. That is you need to provide the information better and present it more effectively.
For example, in the early years of Youtube, you would be ecstatic if you found a video that helped you to solve a problem, like how tie your tie.
Even if the video was in Black and White, shot from one camera angle, with lousy music soundtrack, you would watch it, because that was the only video on this topic.
But today your search results would have dozens of videos for you to choose from, so you need to present that content better than anyone else.
The second option is to make content that is more specific. That is, go deeper in a topic that no-one else has done before. For example a video on personal fitness isn’t going to break through the hundreds if not thousands of other videos covering this topic.
To get noticed, you need to find an unique angle that no-one else is covering. So instead of a general fitness video, you might target expecting mothers, men over 50 years of age, office workers with very limited time.
The more specific your topic, the more targeted your audience will be, and the greater chance you’ll have to make an impact.
Once you have selected your content theme, you need to list topic ideas which you can find using the free Google Keyword Planer, as well as the Youtube search results.
Finally you can create a content calendar and map out when you will publish your video content. The key here is consistency. Don’t 10 videos in one day and then nothing for two months. Whether you choose a daily, weekly or even monthly schedule, just be consistent so that your audience will grow their expectations for your video content.
That’s all we have time today, so stay tuned for Part Two of this series as we’ll look at THE AUDIENCE and how to grow and monetize them using video content marketing.
